Lights, Camera, Abigail!

Seminole County athlete Abigail Adams will be appearing on the big screen after landing a key role in a film being shot in Toronto and Ireland. She’ll play the part of “Abigail” in “The Thrift Store,” a story of young love during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.
When a young boy develops feelings for a girl in his class, “Abigail,” a clerk at a local thrift store, serves as a bridge, helping him connect with his crush. In a recent podcast, filmmaker Suresh Cedrick Pereira emphasized the importance of Abigail’s character, saying “without her, this story doesn’t happen.”
Abigail says she was drawn to the role because her Down syndrome is treated matter-of-factly and is not a central focus of the plot.
“My character is not a person with a disability who happens to do something good,” she said. “She is a good person who happens to have a disability.”
“The Thrift Store” is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will then be entered into several film festivals. It will have a run time of about 90 minutes. You can learn more about the movie here.
